Geography and Climate

Alanya enjoys a unique geographical position along the Mediterranean coast. The city is surrounded by the Taurus Mountains to the north and bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the south, with the historic Alanya Peninsula extending into the sea and encircled by ancient city walls.

As an important port city with a settlement history dating back to antiquity, Alanya gained strategic significance during the Seljuk period. Sultan Alaaddin Keykubat strengthened the city by constructing the historic shipyard and the Red Tower, both of which remain iconic landmarks and continue to contribute to tourism today.

Alanya features a Mediterranean climate with approximately 300 sunny days per year, offering mild winters and warm summers. The favorable climate supports year-round tourism and long seaside seasons. During winter months, visitors from northern countries often enjoy outdoor activities, including seaside walks and sunbathing on sunny days.

With its pleasant climate and natural surroundings, Alanya has become a preferred destination both for residential living and real estate investment.

Thanks to its fertile soil and diverse geography, Alanya is one of the most agriculturally productive regions of the Mediterranean. The area supports a wide variety of plant species and is rich in forested landscapes, particularly where mountain and coastal environments meet, such as in the Incekum region.

A broad range of tropical and subtropical fruits are cultivated along the coastline, while colder-resistant fruit varieties are grown in higher elevations. Local markets throughout the city offer fresh fruits and vegetables daily, reflecting Alanya’s strong agricultural tradition alongside its tourism-driven economy.
