Big Increase in House Sales to Russians and Ukrainians!

According to the information compiled from the data of the Turkish Statistical Institute, the number of residences sold to foreigners in Turkey in the January-November period increased by 10 thousand 389 compared to the same period of the previous year and became 61 thousand 741. Real estate acquired by Russian and Ukrainian citizens played the leading role in this increase. The number of residences bought by the citizens of the two countries from Turkey increased by 10 thousand 608 units in the same period. In the list of foreigners who bought the most housing in the 11-month period, Russian, Iranian and Iraqi citizens were ranked in the top three. On the other hand, there was a decrease in the number of residences purchased by citizens of Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan during this period.

With the start of the Russia-Ukraine War, the rapid increase in the number of houses bought by the citizens of the two countries from Turkey drew attention. In February, when the war began, the Russians bought 509 houses from Turkey. After the war, sales skyrocketed, and in June the number peaked at 1.887 homes. The sales, which declined in the following months, started to increase again towards the end of the year and reached 2 thousand 575 in November.

The Russians, who bought a total of 3 thousand 975 residences in the March-November period of last year, purchased 12 thousand 921 residences in the same period of this year. Thus, in the 9 months after the start of the war, the number of residences purchased by Russians has increased 3.3 times compared to the same period of the previous year.

The number of housing units purchased by Ukrainian citizens has increased

In the same period, there was an increase in the number of housing purchased by Ukrainian citizens. In February, when the war began, Ukrainians bought 111 houses from Turkey. After the war, sales increased rapidly, reaching 301 in June, the highest level of this year. The sales, which followed a fluctuating course in the following months, were recorded as 277 in November.

Ukrainians, who bought 946 houses in the March-November period of last year, bought 2 thousand 55 houses in the same period of this year. Thus, in the period of March-November, when the war continued, the number of housing purchased by Ukrainian citizens increased 2.2 times on an annual basis.
